Every April, a legendary event takes over the rugged terrain of Sproul State Forest-the Hyner View Trail Challenge. Known for its jaw-dropping climbs, thrilling descents, and breathtaking views, this isn't your average trail race. It's a rite of passage for trail runners, hikers, and adventurers looking to push themselves and connect with the raw, wild beauty of Clinton County, Pennsylvania. 

 

What is the Hyner View Trail Challenge?  

The Hyner View Trail Challenge is an annual endurance race with two distance options: 25K and 50K. Participants from across the country come to tackle the steep climbs, technical trails, and iconic overlooks—especially “Humble Hill” and the breathtaking view from Hyner View State Park, where the West Branch of the Susquehanna River carves through the mountain landscape.

This isn't just a race-it's a community experience, where grit meets gratitude and competition meets camaraderie. 

  • Elevation Gain: Runners face over 4,000 feet of climbing (for the 50K)—not for the faint of heart!  

  • Scenic Payoffs: The views from Hyner View and surrounding trails are some of the most awe-inspiring in Pennsylvania.

Not Running? Still worth Visiting

Even if you're not racing, the Hyner View Trail Challenge weekend is an incredible time to visit Clinton County:
